"I don't feel depressed anymore and life seems to have more sustenance.

And I thank NeurOptimal for that."

    Welcome to Operation Giving Back
Program

Who benefits from this program

Men and woman who have been to war, their spouses and children, veterans who are finishing their military careers and are preparing to enter back into the civilian world again. These veterans are suffering from PTSD or combat stress.

What is the program

The program of Operation Giving Back involves three major activities on behalf of our veterans.  These three activities form the basis of a complete and unified treatment plan.  The three "programs" are these:

Assessment and Referral:  The counselor interviews the veteran and completes a full assessment of the person's  mental health needs.   For needs we are not able to fulfill ourselves, we refer the veteran to local resources that will help him or her.  In this way, we demonstrate our commitment to helping the veteran reach an optimal level of healthy living.

NeurOptimal Neurofeedback:   This program is the heart of our work. Our veteran population is an at-risk population made up of people who have been to war and often find it hard to put into words what is troubling them. The beauty of the NeurOptimal technology is that it works effectively without the patient having to put the problem into words. This takes a great deal of pressure off the patient and allows him or her to relax during the training. Patients describe the trainings as very relaxing and calming. The technology trains the brain to regulate its emotional states and reduce the stress points in the central nervous system. This process goes on while the patient sits back and enjoys the sounds of relaxing music. The patient is not required to re-visit the trauma and is not required to open up about the troubles he or she is enduring. This is a very popular feature of this training.

Counseling:  This program allows the veteran to work with the counselor to solidify the gains made during the neurofeedback training.   Patterns in thinking and behaving are reviewed and targeted for change.  Because of the improved neuro-circuitry of the brain gained during the neurofeedback, the patient is able to recognize the problem areas and move towards a solution, with the counselor's help.

The technology trains the brain to regulate its emotional states and reduce the stress points in the central nervous system.  This process goes on while the patient sits back and enjoys the sounds of relaxing music.

Another distinctive feature of the program is that the results are achieved without the need to treat the trauma with drugs.  In fact, the training is completely non-invasive. No subliminal thoughts are fed to the brain during the training; no a priori assumptions are used to tell the brain how to reduce the turbulence disturbing the central nervous system.  The brain is shown the problem areas and the brain is allowed to use its own innate wisdom to reduce the trauma and help the person return to a baseline of alostasis. The results speak for themselves and the results reported to us by the veterans we have trained is that their anxiety and stress levels have declined

Each patient is treated personally and warmly.  During the twenty sessions of the training, each patient will have the opportunity to discuss with the program counselor how he or she is feeling and what goals are desirable to achieve.
